Year 3 Time-Travel To The Stone Age

On Thursday there was much excitement in the air as Denmark Street Class time-travelled back to the Stone Age at Stonehenge.  The children were given their own personal guided tour around the ancient site by English Heritage and had an opportunity to handle artefacts and ask lots of questions.

As well as seeing the monument up close the children also had the privilege of climbing a barrow and learning about how Stone Age man buried their dead.  Luckily for us Miley and Miia only had to pretend to be buried and they soon revived enough to join us back at the Visitors' Centre for lunch.

After a much needed rest it was on to the exhibition and a chance to look at some of the items archaeologists have unearthed in the area.  We also had a chance to explore some replica Neolithic homes and found that the beds inside them were not very comfortable and they didn't have toilets.

Before we set off for home we tried to work as a team to move a stone similar to the ones that make up the henge but despite our best efforts we didn't succeed.

We had a very enjoyable but tiring day and would like to thank Mrs Brookes, Mrs Muruganandh and Mr Rivieccio for joining us and making our trip possible.
