Assembly Celebrates Reading for Pleasure

This week we celebrated reading for pleasure in a whole school assembly.  We thought about all the places and  experiences reading encourages your imagination to take you to as well as all the many things we can learn.

At the assembly the prizes for the Summer Reading Challenge were awarded. There was a winner in each class and also one for  Peach Street Class who were the class that completed the most challenges. We heard about some interesting reading that took place this summer, including reading a Punch and Judy script, reading in a football stadium and even reading in a volcanic spring spa!

Finally, the new reading challenge was introduced which involves children reading as many of the recommended books for their year group this school year. The books are all displayed in a bookcase in the school library for children to borrow.  Click here to view a list of the recommended Year Group Reading books.

Happy reading, everyone!
