Year 2 'Life in a Castle' Workshop

Year 2 had a fantastic day experiencing what life was like in a medieval castle. They started the day visiting workshops organised by Happening Histories and found out about armour, clothing worn in castles, how food was prepared and the different jobs children did. Everyone had the chance to try on armour and costumes, grind flour, make gingerbread and even churn butter.

Later in the day Peach Street class was transformed into the Great Hall inside the Keep of a castle with a blazing fire and candlelight ready for a feast for the Lord and Lady and their guests. Before the food was served jesters entertained the guest with jokes. They were then offered beer (orange squash) or wine (blackcurrant squash) with meat, cheese, fruit and gingerbread produced in the castle grounds.

Everyone had an amazing time!
