Fun with Pretend Pets

This week in Reception, we continued our Animal topic by looking at and discussing pets.

We read a fantastic story called 'Muddypaws' which we enjoyed. In the story the puppy needs a name, so we had lots of fun coming up with ideas. He was finally called 'Muddypaws.'

In the garden we had a couple of pretend pets and helped look after them. Children brushed them, cuddled them, stoked them, walked them and even took them for a ride in their hood.  Mrs George allowed me to take a picture of her pet doorstop to show my class, they were very excited and thought she had a real dog in the office and of course wanted to visit her.

Another fun activity we completed, was to make a pet plate. The children used their own imagination to make these but we had some pictures too they could look at to help them.

We completed a pet pictogram and found the most people in our class do not have any pets. Miss Mottershead ran out of crosses for this column. The most popular pet in Fernlea Drive class was a cat.

Lots of fun was had by all.
