Summer Term Starts with a BIG BANG!

The summer term started with a BIG BANG in Rectory Road Class.  The children in Year 5 are learning about Astronomy and how scientists believe the universe started.  There were new books and puzzles to share as well as Art and Science learning to take part in.  We created our own Big Bang artwork using film canisters, paint and indigestion tablets.  The reaction between the paint and the tablets caused a mini explosion sending paint in random patterns across our canvasses.  We all got a little messy, but it was lots of fun.  We also drew our own timelines stretching from the Big Bang right up until today.

Over the next few weeks we'll be learning about gravity, the planets in our solar system, natural satellites, phases of the moon and other galaxies.
