GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

School Meals

School meals are available for all children everyday. The meals are cooked on site by our caterers, Chartwells. We firmly believe that the price of school lunches represents value for money and provides a healthy, well balanced meal.

Lunch Menu

  • Each day two main meal choices will be available (see menu)
  • Alternatively children may choose a jacket potato with either cheese or baked beans or tomato pasta
  • Freshly baked bread will be available daily to accompany the main meal.
  • Three dessert options are offered - one variable option (see menu) or fresh fruit or yoghurt. 

All children in Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and children who qualify for Free School Meals in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 will received a free school meal daily.

We are keen to support parents with the current costs of living and providing all the above pupils with a free nutritious lunch will save families the cost of making a packed lunch, estimated to be over £12 per child per week.

Free School Meals

We are keen to support parents with the current costs of living and providing all the below pupils with a free nutritious lunch will save families the cost of making a packed lunch, estimated to be over £12 per child per week:

  • Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 - Universal Free School Meals are served for all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. If you wish to opt out your child from receiving these meals, please contact the School Office.
  • Year 3 to Year 6 (Entitled to FSM) - School Meals are served for all Key Stage 2 children who are entitled to a free lunch. If you think that your child may be entitled to these, please see the link here for further information and application details. If you are eligible but wish to opt out your child from receiving these meals, please contact the School Office.

Paid Meals

If your child is in Key Stage 2 and not entitled to a free lunch, then they can choose to have either a school cooked lunch or a packed lunch provided from home each day. School lunches cost £2.60 per day and meals must be paid for in advance by using the school's online system ParentMail.

Special Diets

  • If your child has a medical need for a special diet our caterers, Chartwells, have nutritionists who can work with you to accommodate this. Details of this support can be found here: The Chartwells Approach to Medical Diets | Chartwells and the School Office can support you with an application.
  • For information on allergens and special diets please contact Chartwells at chartwells.medicaldiets@compass-group.co.uk
  • Please let the school know any dietary requirements your child may have.

If you wish to provide a packed lunch for your child, please note:

  • Do not include sweets of any kind.
  • No fully coated chocolate bars/biscuits.
  • Fizzy drinks must not be brought into school.
  • No glass bottles or cans please.

Severe food allergies

Could we please remind you that we have children in the school with serious food allergies.  The following foods should not be brought into school under any circumstances:

  • any variety of nut
  • mango
  • passion fruit
  • papaya
  • guava
  • star fruit

Please check ingredients on chocolate bars, chocolate spread, cereal bars and cakes to ensure no nut products are brought into school.

Please check ingredients on fruit drinks to check they do not include any of the tropical fruits listed above.

Cool MilkCool milk

All children under 5 years of age receive a free carton of milk each school day. Children entitled to Free School Meals (not to be confused with the Universal Free School Meals scheme) will also receive a free carton of milk each school day.

If your children would like to receive milk after their 5th birthday, Cool Milk can supply for a nominal amount (around £14 per term). To register your child for school milk. Simply visit www.coolmilk.com/register it's super easy and your child can benefit from a nutritious drink of milk to keep them hydrated until lunch.
