Year 4 - Romans Workshop

Roman Workshop – Monday 2nd November 2026

As part of our Wider curriculum, Year 4 will be taking part in an exciting Roman Workshop on Monday 2nd November 2026, led by Russ Spicer.

This engaging and motivating day explores life in Britain during the Pax Romana, the long period of relative peace experienced throughout the Roman Empire. The children will discover the dramatic changes brought about by the arrival of the Roman legions, explore a Roman bathhouse and experience the excitement of the games arena. There will also be an opportunity to handle real Roman artefacts, giving the children a truly hands-on experience of history.

Throughout the day, the children will participate in a variety of activities, including:

The day will finish with an exciting gladiator show, where the children will take on a variety of roles, from slaves to the mighty Emperor.

Our workshop leader has appeared in numerous historical documentaries, feature films and the BBC's Horrible Histories, making this a fantastic opportunity to bring history to life for the children.

We are asking for a voluntary contribution of £13.90 per child to cover the cost of the workshop. Payment should be made via SchoolMoney no later than Friday 30th October 2026. You will receive a notification inviting you to make payment online. Please contact the school office if you experience any difficulties accessing the system.

This contribution is voluntary, and neither you nor your child will be treated differently if you are unable or choose not to contribute.  However, please note that without voluntary contributions, this visit may have to be cancelled, as the school is unfortunately unable to fund the trip from existing budgets.

An electronic permission form must be completed by Friday 30th October 2026, giving consent for your child to participate in the workshop. To complete the form, please access the Forms section of your ParentMail app.

If you have any questions regarding the workshop or payment, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
