Celebrating the King's Coronation

Thank you to everyone who took part in our Coronation Celebration last Friday. We hope that we helped the children make some great memories of the occasion. We had a great time in school and I hope everyone enjoyed coming into school to share the occasion with their children. Even the weather played nicely on the day!

Reception made some beautiful Coronation themed arts and crafts and we included a beautifully decorated Union Jack flag, made by Isla and an invitation to our celebration, written by Rosie.

In Years 1 and 2 the children made photo frames and had great fun taking photos in the photo stands that Miss Heath very kindly decorated for us. We have included some of these photos in the capsule. We also included a wonderful poem that was written by Amelia in Year 2.

Year 3 made some commemorative clay tiles. Whilst they were too big to put in the capsule, we included some photographs of them to share with future pupils of Windmill.

Year 4 did a piece of work on their thoughts and feelings on the Coronation and designed crowns. We included work from Eva, Benj, Arivan. Maya and Rebeka in the capsule.

In year 5 the children made videos all about the coronation and we look forward to sharing those on the school website.

For the time capsule, Year 5 produced some writing comparing their own lives to the life of King Charles. We have used work from Zynah, Claudia and Aadhya.

We included some photographs of Year 6 with the decorations they had made and some letters the children have written to their future selves.

The children loved sharing their learning with their families and this is something we would like to do more of in school. The children particularly enjoyed learning the 'sound of Trumpets' coronation song and I would like to thank Mr Barron for all his hard work in singing assemblies teaching the children the national anthem.
