Reception Starting School

We are so proud of how brilliantly all of our new reception children have settled into Windmill. Over the past couple of weeks, we have spent time getting to know each other and learning the routines in school. The children have loved exploring both the inside and outside classrooms, learning to use the resources purposefully and safely.

 

Last week, we started our learning about bread. We read 'Hooray for Bread' by Alan Ahlberg and have explored different breads each day using all of our senses. With our left over bread, we have been using children's knives and scissors to cut it, developing our fine motor skills.

 

Other activities we have enjoyed included making playdough bread/cakes and engaging in our role play bakery. We are very excited to be visiting the school kitchen this week to see bread being made and make our very own bread rolls to eat.
