Year 1 - How has the invention of cars changed our lives?

What an amazing couple of weeks we have had in Year 1. With our overarching topic question being 'How has the invention of cars changed our lives?', we started our journey from the first cars invented, passing by what made the engineers change their designs based on a new purpose, (cars would need to help transporting people and goods to places quickly and easily), zooming in the importance of Sir Alec Issigonis and his work on the Mini Cooper, arriving to create our own cars models and thinking about how to make a 'greener car' for the future.

Children were pleased to receive a visit from a local old-style cars lover, who let us sit in the car itself. We could also admire the engine and hear its horn. Lately we compared a petrol, and hybrid and an electric car and we learnt the difference between them. At the end of our travels, we welcomed Mr Lansley, 3M Global Segment Marketing Leader, who came in our class and showed us all the products that 3M produces to help building more ecofriendly cars, with applications on the new Mini Cooper (e)
