GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

How Have Structures Influenced Our Lives?

Big Question:
How did people live in prehistoric Britain?


Overview

This term, Year 3 will explore life in prehistoric Britain, focusing on settlements, structures, and daily life. Children will learn about rocks, fossils, and soils, and create a life-sized wattle and daub structure inspired by prehistoric homes. They will also produce artwork reflecting prehistoric life.


What Will Children Learn?

  • History:
    • Changes in Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age.
    • Daily life, tools, and settlements.
  • Science:
    • Types of rocks and how fossils are formed.
    • What soil is made of.
  • Art:
    • Printing techniques and prehistoric-inspired designs.
  • Design & Technology:
    • How to strengthen and reinforce structures.
    • Create prototypes and a life-sized wattle and daub wall.
