Theme: How are cultures expressed around the world?
What is this project about?
This term, Year 3 will explore European countries, their physical and human geography, and how culture is expressed through art and food. Children will learn to challenge the idea that “All European countries are the same” by discovering similarities and differences across the continent.
What will children learn?

Geography:
- Locate Europe and its countries on maps and atlases.
- Understand mountains, rivers, coasts, and climate zones.
- Compare physical and human features of three European countries and the UK.

Art:
- Explore textile art inspired by artists Alice Kettle and Hannah Rae.
- Experiment with mark-making, painting on fabric, and embroidery.
- Create a textile art piece based on a European landscape.

Science:
- Learn about nutrition and the importance of a balanced diet.
- Understand the skeleton and muscles – how they support, protect, and help us move.

Design & Technology (DT):
- Taste foods from different European countries.
- Follow a recipe to bake a European-inspired dish.
- Learn about food hygiene and healthy eating.
