Physical Education
At Windmill, we believe that Physical Education is an essential part of every child’s development. Our PE curriculum is designed to inspire a lifelong love of physical activity, promote health and wellbeing, and develop key skills such as teamwork, resilience, and confidence.
Our Approach
Every child enjoys two high-quality PE lessons each week, ensuring regular opportunities to develop fitness, coordination, and a positive attitude towards physical activity.
Our curriculum includes:
- Games and Team Sports – Football, netball, cricket, and more.
- Athletics – Running, jumping, and throwing activities to build strength and stamina.
- Gymnastics and Dance – Encouraging creativity, flexibility, and coordination.
- Outdoor and Adventurous Activities – Opportunities to explore and challenge themselves in safe environments.
Swimming
Swimming is a vital life skill, and we are proud to include it in our PE provision. Pupils walk to St Paul’s Junior School, where they use the swimming pool for structured lessons. These sessions help children build confidence in the water and learn essential water safety skills.
Why PE Matters
PE is about more than just exercise. It helps children:
- Build physical fitness and motor skills.
- Develop social skills through teamwork and fair play.
- Improve mental health and emotional wellbeing.
- Learn the importance of healthy lifestyles.
Competitions and Fixtures
Our pupils regularly take part in local competitions and inter-school fixtures, representing our school with pride. These events encourage sportsmanship, resilience, and community spirit. Check our Competitions and Fixtures page for upcoming events and results.
