Windmill Primary School Visits Parliament

Img 0336A group of pupils from Windmill Primary School had the opportunity to visit the Houses of Parliament this week. The visit provided the children with a firsthand experience of the UK's political system and the workings of democracy.

During the visit, the children were given a guided tour of the historic building, including the House of Commons and the House of Lords. They learned about the history of Parliament, the legislative process, and the role of MPs and Lords in shaping the nation's laws.

The highlight of the trip was a Q&A session with a Clive Jones MP for Wokingham, who engaged with the pupils, answering their questions about politics, governance, and the importance of civic engagement. The children were enthusiastic and inquisitive, demonstrating a keen interest in understanding how decisions are made at the national level.

Headteacher Miss Nicola Cotter commented, "As a Rights Respecting School, this visit to Parliament aligns with our mission to empower pupils to understand and exercise their rights and responsibilities as active citizens. By engaging with the democratic process, our children are learning the importance of participation and advocacy in shaping a fair and just society."

This memorable visit to Parliament has undoubtedly left a lasting impression on the pupils, inspiring them to become more informed and active members of their community. Windmill Primary School looks forward to continuing to provide such enriching experiences that foster a love for learning and a deep understanding of civic responsibility.
