GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

What Will Children Learn This Year?

Year 4 focuses on building confidence with larger numbers, strengthening multiplication and division skills, and introducing more complex concepts like fractions and area. Children also develop problem-solving and reasoning skills through real-life contexts.


Key Learning Across the Year

Autumn Term

  • Place Value: Understanding numbers up to 4 digits.
  • Addition & Subtraction: Using column methods for accuracy.
  • Area & Perimeter: Measuring and comparing spaces.
  • Times Tables: Mastering 3, 6, and 9 times tables.
  • Geometry: Identifying quadrilaterals and triangles.

Spring Term

  • Multiplication & Division: Using distributive law and scaling.
  • Coordinates & Symmetry: Plotting points and exploring patterns.
  • Times Tables: Completing up to 12x for fluency.

Summer Term

  • Fractions: Working with improper fractions and mixed numbers.
  • Division with Remainders: Understanding division beyond whole numbers.
  • Statistics & Time: Reading and interpreting data and telling time accurately.
